[link]And why do I care? Because we're both working on Frank Frazetta's Swamp Demon. Even though I have no direct contact with him, I see the awesome work he's managing to do despite this battle he's waging. That's powerful love. I can't help but admire a man so dedicated.

"Always" is actually a good word too, for different reasons. It's one of the words that has significance in my relationship with my woman. And seeing as there always seems to be some overly ambitious kid trying to get in the way, the boot still works too. It's not much of a humourous image, though, so the tone is off... Just have to laugh at those kids.

yes it means eternal, but not very long.it means 'always'
if you want a word means eternal, you can use 永.
永 is a good word.
but i know you have other reasons to use 常.
From what I know--and I realize I'm pathetically uneducated in the language and rely entirely on what I was told--it means "Eternal." I'd appreciate it if you could maybe confirm or deny that?
But I also like how it looks, of course. The proportions and flow.
The boot print stepping on it goes back to the story of a painting M. C. Escher had, which had at one point been trampled by soldiers. It suggests a feeling of some oppression.
Also this particular kanji is clearly-defined enough to fit in such a small graphic and still be legible. The one I have for "Dream", which I use elsewhere, would not have fit, but would have made more sense.
It's sadly cliché to use an image from a culture so far removed from my own to represent myself, I know, but our language and symbolism doesn't touch my deeper sensibilities nearly as much.
I don't know if you'll understand all that... :/

I could punch you for saying that, too! Even your colouring slaughters my pathetic attempts. You're crazy to feel so bad about what you do!
But then I understand your sentiment. You've seen a lot more of what you do than I have, so you have a better understanding of where you've been and where you are, artistically, so my admiring view of your work is all from the outside.
It was inadvertant, but I sure as hell hope I helped in some way. I'd love to talk sometime if you're up to it.

Ah, God! what trances of torments does that man endure who is consumed with one unachieved revengeful desire. He sleeps with clenched hands; and wakes with his own bloody nails in his palms.

But you can get any kind of illustration-related job if the right person happens to cruise by. You can also get tons of professional help on your colours and illustrations in the gallery, then post a thread in the work for hire to offer your services as whatever you want. Show off some of your best stuff with it. You can attach images to threads there, but don't make 'em too big.
